I Like Japanese Hardcore - I Like Japanese Hardcore
Not much info on this band other than it's a Plan-It X freebie. I really like the female vocals and cute lyrics. I'm not really sure why they are so good to me, but they are.
Copied from last.fm:
This was a short lived Bloomington pop band along the lines of go sailor or cub.The band was 2 people, Casey on guitar and vocals and Chris Clavin on drums. They never got around to recording anything but once, Casey played live on the cool local radio station during women in music week. They only have one album, which is available online through plan-it x’s website.

Paul Baribeau - Grand Ledge
The follow-up album of Paul Baribeau. This 2007 release does not disappoint and certainly perks my interest. Enjoy the second album Paul Baribeau's Grand Ledge.

Paul Baribeau - Paul Baribeau
First of all, I want to say sorry for the large gap of album per day ratio. We have received an email threatening our blog from blogspot itself saying that if we keep posting albums, they might shut the blog down. The blog is not going anywhere and posting will continue as usual but maybe slower as we figure out what to do. IF the blog gets deleted without warning, I will be backing up the blog in word hopefully soon and we'll work something out.
Onward! Paul Baribeau is another great folky punky beardy artist from the Plan-It X label which I'm a large fan of. With his witty lyrical content and unique voice he could be a new favorite up there with the likes of Andrew Jackson Jihad. I'm really digging his self titled album, but I'm also going to be upping his newest album Grand Ledge.

Mercury Rev - Snowflake Midnight
Mercury Rev has been floating around since 1984 yet obviously hasn't broke into the mainstream music. I suppose that's better for us then. What you're getting is a mellow chill out music for those cold nights. Chaotic instrumental bridges and the power of Orchestral influences pour from the seems of these songs. I guess the best way to describe these guys is "dream pop" as much as I hate to use that tag. As mentioned, the band has been playing together for nearly 25 years now, and each of them has mastered a piece of musical genius. So sit back, grab a nice fancy coffee, and relax to the therapeutic sounds of Mercury Rev.

The Zydepunks - Finisterre
Finally! Gypsy punk posted that isn't Gogol Bordello! The Zydepunks are a New Orleans folk punk band that incorporates various elements of gypsy punk using the according, fiddle, and drums. Yiddish riddles, Irish ballads, Cajun punk, and vocals in six languages are a small demonstration of why they astound new audiences. They have a very unique sound which I'm sure you'll love.

Front Line Assembly - Civilization
This is the first Front Line Assembly I've ever had, and is one of the best. Here, we can here Bill Leeb's over 20 years of experience come together and create a masterpiece. The first two tracks, Psychosomatic and Maniacal, are classic dancefloor stompers in the classic FLA style. The rest, however, show a deeper, more involved approach. The songs are more, well, ambient (lacking a better word). Tracks such as the title track and Transmitter are amazingly well put together songs that aim for someone other than the average industrial dance club attendee. They are masterful works of art (yeah I know I'm sucking a lot of dick here). That' s all I can say it is. Definitely an album for your industrial or electronica listener.

The Refreshments - Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy
I learned about this band when my English teacher played the song "Banditos" in class for a class project. I spoke with her about it after class and she told me the name of the band, and the name of the specific album it was on. She said that if I enjoyed punk rock at all then I'd like this album.
She was fucking right. This album is a beautiful piece of late 1990's rock, with awesome guitars, beautiful lyrics, and stories that make you think. Some specific songs I recommend on it are "Down Together","Mekong", and "Banditos".

Bomb the Music Industry! - Discography
Bomb the Music Industry! is a side project of Jeff Rosenstock of The Arrogant Sons Of Bitches but the two bands share members frequently. They are known for their DYI Punk ethic doing everything themselves and getting fans and friends involved in shows. They also distribute all of their music for free which is awesome aside from being a kickass band. Rosenstock uses in a lot of his songs nothing more than a powerbook and a microphone but still maintains his folk-punkyness.
Enjoy their music for free, it's a personal favorite(Click the side albums for download) Get the entire album or just individual songs.

:Wumpscut: - Embryodead
Embryodead is perhaps the pinnacle of :Wumpscut:'s career, or at least it is in my opinion. On this disc we see Rudy Ratzinger's masterful industrial prowess, from the dancefloor stompers such as War (my personal favorite :W: song, ever) and the title track, and we see (or should I say hear) his ability to make slower songs as well, as seen from Stillborn and Angel. If you are a fan of :W: but are missing this album, shame on you! Embryodead is an amazing work of industrial, and a must have for any self-proclaimed industrial maniac.

Company Flow - Funcrusher Plus
if you dont already own this CD... I FUCKING HATE YOU. But i'm willing to let bygones be exactly that and give you a chance to have the CD that revolutionised rap in the late 90's and introduced us to underground hip-hop's current king... El-P (you can tell i'm like really obsessed with him, right?) this shit is raw lyricism with grimy filth for beats... nothing to dance to here, bub.

Electric Masada - At The Mountains Of Madness
Last month was a very poor month for music around here, and I'm hoping I can help be apart of the solution instead of part of the problem (as in uploading MSI albums). So therefor I offer you this: Electric Masada. Perhaps they could be described as 'Jew Metal', seeing how most of the members are Jewish and masada translates to prayer in Hebrew. They're even lead by John Zorn. The music here is really sort of a jazz metal fusion, but even that is kind of dumbing it down too much. Some songs don't even seem to have a standard musical construction, such as the song that seems to be almost industrial in the fact that it is the rhythmic sounds of things breaking and other strange sounds. Some of the songs seem metal, with horn thrown in and other, less conventional sounds. Others seem to be a bizarre form of jazz that I really can't describe. None of the songs have lyrics, however. But trust me, that does not subtract from their appeal. Another thing to note is the length of the songs. The shortest song is 5:17, whereas the longest one is an even 18 minutes. The band also redoes some of the songs from the first disc in the second one, such as Kedem and Karaim. But this is definitely an album to check out.

CSS - Donkey
When I search for music, I typically look for something I can snowboard to. As jock/retarded/lame as this sounds, it typically helps me find some of the best music around. As much acclaim their first album got, I personally love the 2nd album. Donkey is a smoother, more refined "pop rock"sound compared to its sister album Cansei de ser Sexy(what CSS actually stands for). As much as I like Donkey, the Cansei ser de Sexy album is a more popular album amongst CSS fans, so if this isn't for you, give their old album a shot.

The JV All-Stars - Take Me Back to Spectre [Extended]
The JV All-Stars (the real ones, not the millions of ones you might find on Myspace) are by far one of Nebraska's biggest bands at the moment (not up there with 311 quite yet, but getting close). Not only are they one of the tightest and most talented group of musicians, they're super cool guys. I spent a week living in their house with my band recording our album. This copy is the extended version, with bonus tracks [my favorite being "How's It Goin' Royal Ugly Dudes???"] and some acoustic stuff.
JVA, however, are much bigger in Japan than in America at the moment. They are 100% independent in the United States (most of their recordings are from their basement-seriously) yet signed to Trolley-Bus Records in Japan. They own a nice, small piece at our local record store and have an entire cardboard-cutout stand for their Japanese stores. It's crazy, but they've been to Japan many times and love their Asian fans.
JVA's sound is a mixture of pop, post-punk and on occasion some electrical elements. They put on a really fun show and have a great time whenever they get on stage. They're going on a super tour in November (but not coming anywhere near Chicago or Milwaukee, if that's what you're wondering). In 2007 they (as well as Go Crash Audio, another Nebraska band big in Japan) were name one of AbsolutePunk's 100 Up in Coming bands.
They're going somewhere and even if it's MTV they're good enough guys that they deserve it.

Tilly and The Wall - Bottoms Of Barrels
Out of Omaha, Nebraska comes a unique indie band that I can barely fit into a genre. Using shakers, tambourines, guitars, keyboards, and tap dancing they create a beautiful blend of pop fun. Their use of tap dancing in replacement of a drummer in many instances has brought them to be intriguing in every sense. Check out "Black and Blue", "Rainbows In The Dark", and "Bad Education" for great instances of their classic sound.
