Sons and Daughters - The Repulsion Box/This Gift

Two choice albums today, you lucky sons of bitches. Sons and Daughters are a Glasgow band (two of the members are formerly of Arab Strap) with a distinct knack for two things: making music that is infectious as hell, and being relentless. There isn't a soft moment on either 2005's The Repulsion Box or their latest release, This Gift, that doesn't get almost immediately blasted by either the power of David Gow's drumming, Adele Bethel's intense vocal delivery, or Scott Patterson's visceral (and occasionally folky) guitar work. With that said, I'd like to point out that This Gift is a bit more subtle than TRB, which I think adds a necessary nuance to their music that was somewhat lacking before. Both are fantastic, though, and I hope you like 'em as much as I do.

This Gift has far superior songwriting, I'm really liking it.

Didn't really like The Repulsion Box at all.

I lean towards This Gift myself, but I don't think The Repulsion Box is bad. Just tiring.
