I'm home from vacation and ship out west for college Wednesday. For those who thought I quit blogging or something I was simply out of state for a week. I came back to a lot less music than I remembered, but was comforted when I found this album in my library. I'm pretty sure IETF gave it to me but I know nothing about it and little recollection of getting it. It's a wonderful rockabilly band with a 50s feel but they are from today's time period. I think it's a trio of two girls and a guy or something. Oh and they toured with Coldplay because some guy from Coldplay likes them.

John Vanderslice & The Mountain Goats - Moon Colony Bloodbath

This EP sees a pairing of Johns; John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats fame, and John Vanderslice, an artist in his own right. Unlike the previously posted Kaki King split EP, this is not as collaborative in the songwriting, and suffers for it. The person behind each track is immediately clear, and although there are undeniable themes linking the songs together, this extended player just doesn't flow. Then again, perhaps that's the nature and the point of an EP; odds and sods, anyone?

Hey, I've been sick since Saturday and I'm going on vacation Friday so hopefully I can squeeze in a few good post in before then. Oh, then I go to school on the 26th and who knows when I'll have time. Hopefully some exciting news that I have coming up will make up for my lack of posting.

Anyways, enough news, here's Latterman. Some good punk similar to The Lawrence Arms, Bridge and Tunnel, and Hot Water Music. Good tracks are "Zombies Are Pissed" and "Fear And Loathing On Long Island" but the whole album is pretty great and is sing-along-able.

Don't know much about this band except they play some serious rock and roll. I saw them on Letterman and watched some videos of them playing recently at All Points West(regrettably I missed out...) and they've caught my eye. This is one band I can't wait to hear more about. They recently had breakthough success with their single "Aint No Rest For The Wicked" which feels like a 90's revival jam. I like the entire album a lot to be honest.

Jeeze, Mueslix. Okay, this is a shoutout to Mueslix who keeps requesting screamo consistantly. This is a great art screamo band with more of a post-rock feel. Nonetheless, it's still screamo and it should hold you over for now until I get more to post. Maybe?

I'm reuploading this. If it gets taken down again, I'll not upload it again, but I see little justification to delete the post in light of the Why? album still posted here. Once again Triple J save the day with more awesome music. This is Mammal, an alternative metal band from Melbourne, Australia. The album has various sounds to it, from the soft Mr Devil to the more anger filled Smash The Pinata. It's anti-authoritarian, uncaring and a reflection of society and it's ignorance.

Venetian Snares is what Electronic artist Aaron Funk likes to call himself when he is making cool sounds with his music-box. This album was inspired by Aaron's trip to Hungry. Each song uses samples from Hungarian classical songs. This is an odd, yet pleasing combination. This album is relaxing to listen too, but it can also be stimulating. The orchestral instruments seem to flow together with the modern electronic beats, creating an odd sound-scape you can get lost in. Oh, and one of the songs will make you kill yourself if you listen to it.

Bed Stuy Meets Blue Eyes - Notorious B.I.G and Frank Sinatra

I would of never thought the combination of Biggie Smalls and Frank Sinatra would be a good one (I guess that is why I don't make music) . This album not only proves me wrong, it goes above and beyond. Bed Stuy Meets Blue Eyes is set apart from other similar albums because the author did not simply overlay Biggie's rhymes onto Frank Sinatra instrumentals. He created interesting, diverse songs that contain voice samples from both Frank and Biggie. Another plus is that all of the songs sound like they are of much higher quality than the orginal Notorious B.I.G and Frank Sinatra songs. This album is a must, even if you aren't into Biggie Smalls or Frank Sinatra, this is just good music.

OK Trollmaster was nagging me to post some music, and I didn't really feel like it, but I've been listening to this album and I couldn't pass up posting it. It will probably be the best thing you've heard in a while. Oh, you want to know the name of that one song that you should listen to right away? Ok fine, "Shampoo." Enjoy.
