El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead

For my first post on the blog i decided to upload my favourite album of 2007 (I bought this on release date and it did not leave tray 5 of my CD player for at least 6 months) . now, for those well versed in 'Underground' Hip-Hop this may well be old news but for the uninitiated... pay attention. El-P has garnered most attention as the head of (arguably) Hip-Hop's most popular Indie Record Label since the year 2000... Definitive Jux. As well as making some impressive business moves with Def Jux (pretty much locking down some of the underground scene's most influential acts) the man sure knows how to knock out a mean release. Enough bigging the guy up. Download this, listen to the first track (who knew Rap could be this epic?) and try justifing deleting it afterwards. This guy understands where Hip-Hop has been and is launching it into the future... all be it, a dystopian one.

Feat; Aesop Rock, Trent Reznor, Cage, Cat Power and The Mars Volta

Total Eclipse - Access Denied

Total Eclipse is a nice, electro-jazz band. Their combination of laid back electronic music and jazz/funk leaves little to be desired. Great music to just chillax to, or if you really want something nice to listen to. Enjoy!

Tacere - Beautiful Darkness

Thought I'd do a different sub-genre of metal today.

Tacere is a Gothic Metal band. They have a male vocalist and a female vocalist (who recently left the band) although the female vocals are dominant. This album is made up of five years worth of demos, and the effort definetly shows. If you're sort of into the Gothic/Symphonic sort of Metal genres then I would recommend giving this a listen to.

Guitar Wolf - Dead Rock

Guitar Wolf is a heavy noise producing garage band from Nagasaki, Japan. The trio uses shrieking vocals, heavy feedback and distortion techniques, and heavy influence from The Ramones and rockabilly in their work. The band's unique and energetic, yet ear throbbing sound is much higher quality than their previous work which was much more distorted. Dead Rock definitely pulls through as one of my favorite Guitar Wolf albums. Then again, I am still hoping to get my hands on their split with Lightning Bolt which I assume is nothing short of amazing.

Godskitchen Classics

Going with the 90's Dance theme present with the Scatman John album posted two weeks ago, I decided to post some classic techno, and what better way to do so than with Godskitchen Classics, a 3CD compilation of some of the most well known techno from the 90's to early 2000's. The compilation is separated into 3 themes of Trance, Hard Dance and House music. This is my favorite Godskitchen album with my personal favorite song being The Dons remix of We Will Survive by the Warp Brothers. For those who want to add some more hardcore beats to their playlist, this is a must have.

NOTE: The Track listings are wrong. WMP is a POS when it comes to properly ripping techno albums. The official listing is here

Swirlies - Blonder Tongue Audio Baton

Swirlies are a lo-fi dreamy noise-pop shoegaze band who formed in Boston in 1990. This is their first and most critically acclaimed album. (I suppose you could say it's like My Bloody Valentine, but then again, Isn't Anything? Hahahahaha) Really though, the album is full of dream-like melodies and hazy distorted riffs, with plenty of tremolo arm abuse for good measure. Worth a listen if you're into that kind of thing.

Fog- Ether Teeth

The main reason I uploaded this album is because it is SUPER hard to find. I've been looking for this album for well over a year and I FINALLY found it (I'm not talking about a real copy).

It's a pretty unusual album. There's a lot of meandering, but it's worth trudging through.

Orange Pekoe - Happy Valley

Orange Pekoe is a Japanese jazz fusion band. The album consists of fun jazz rhythms, happy tunes, and laid back Japanese vocals. It's overall a feel good album that will help you get your zen back in place for when you're feeling not so happy(In the valley?)

Cursive - The Ugly Organ

Cursive I found a while ago, but didn't realize how awesome they were until I started listening to them again. Tim Kasher from Commander Venus, one of my most listened to bands now, leads the band to create a great album.

Titus Andronicus- The Airing of Grievances

This album sounds like what I used to think indie rock was before all these post 2005 clean produced alternative rock bands showed up that added a few horns or something to their music so they could be classified "indie." You know what I'm saying: it actually sounds good.
