:Wumpscut: - Evoke

:Wumpscut: is the one man band of Rudy Ratzinger. His electronic music can be described as industrial, but in reality seems to escape any specific classification. The songs are all pretty good, although "Maiden" and "Rush" seem to stick out as highlights. Definitely recommended for the fans of any type of electronica.

I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness- Fear is On Our Side

I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness are a Goth/Post-Punk band from Texas. They play slow dirgey rock in the vein of Bauhaus and Joy Division. If you can get past the ridiculous name, they're really worth a listen. But songs include: "Fear is On Our Side" and "According to Plan".

Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine

Arch Enemy is a Swedish Melodic Death Metal band. They have a female vocalist, but she pulls off Death growls really well. This album got some commercial success and it's fairly well known.

Arch Enemy was one of the first Melodic Death Metal bands I got into, and this is a pretty solid album. All round, it's a decent album but not many songs stick out as great.

The Living End - The Living End

The Living End is a punk band from Melbourne, Australia. With the launch of a new album soon, what better why to promote them then with their most successful album to date. The boys tend to alternate the themes of their songs between political issues and enjoying their social lives. This album shot to fame with the release of the songs Prisoner of Society and Second Solution, dealing with the generation gap and death row respectively. Admittedly I'm not too big a fan of punk rock (I have friends who worship Blink 182) but these boys know how to entertain a crowd without looking like complete idiots.

Snakes On A Plane - OST

I'M TIRED OF THESE MOTHERFUCKING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHERFUCKING PLANE! Well, the movie was over-hyped, but it did have a few good lines that deserved a standing ovation. At least the movie produced more than a motion picture; a soundtrack was born. The soundtrack is full of remixes, catchy songs, and two theme tracks. After all is said and done, I actually enjoy the soundtrack a lot, but I wouldn't see more than a few youtube clips as far as the movie goes.

Boredoms - Pop Tatari

Boredoms is a Japanese noise rock band which caught my eye for the second time with their 77 drummer art project on July 7th, 2007 which featured Brian Chippendale from Lightning Bolt. The first was by wikipedia because boredom actually did set in that day. The Boredoms use odd techniques of repetition, vocal noises, and unexpected sounds which sounds quite good surprisingly. They are a bit odd, but are definitely worth a listen.

Skinny Puppy - Too Dark Park

Skinny Puppy's 'Too Dark Park' is often considered the peak of their musical career. The album itself is a phantasmagoria of sounds and layers. The vocals are harsh but discernible, but they are generally a loose collection of ideas that don't make to much sense. This album has so much going on that it always has something new on each listen. Highlights are 'T.F.W.O.' and 'Spasmolytic'. Download at:

Fishboy - Albatross: How We Failed To Save The Lone Star State With The Power Of Rock And Roll

I'm not sure of how I found this band back in 2000 when they were even smaller than they are now. Back then, there were songs available for download on their site and I was hooked by their witty lyrics, fun guitaring, and lo-fi quality of it, or could it be the humorous comics that Fishboy draws. The band consisting of Eric "Fishboy" Michener, Adam "Sweatpants" Avramescu, John "Erfman" Clardy Jr. III, and Justin "Sixlets" Lloyd was named by Eric's nickname earned at an Aquarium. Then, they got a decent record deal and Little D pops out and I find that they are actually awesome with a good sound to them. I've been bugging them telling them to come to the east coast and obviously other people have too, and it has worked. They are coming up in their first east coast tour EVER(They only tour around their hometown of Denton, Texas). Check out their myspace for tour dates, I know I am pretty pumped(Although I don't think I can make any shows).

Now, the album. It has been self described as "It's a rock opera about how myself, the band and the ghost of Buddy Holly attempt to save Texas by going on a tour/crime spree in order to perform all 8030 of the songs I've written in my sleep since I was in the womb. It's appropriately titled: Albatross: How We Failed To Save The Lone Star State With The Power Of Rock And Roll"

Andrew Jackson Jihad - People Who Can Eat People Are the Luckiest People in the World

Andrew Jackson Jihad is a band that can be described as indie, anti-folk, and Americana. Their lineup is almost always Sean Bonnette on guitar and Ben Gallaty on standup bass. The lyrics are political, humorous, sarcastic, but always fun. They have a split with Ghost Mice, another band of similar backgrounds, so check it out also. They are one of my favorite bands now and I'm pretty sure you're going to like them no matter what.
