John Zorn - The Gift

John Zorn is an avant-garde jazz musician and former leader of the punk-jazz band Naked City. He's collaborated with pretty much every genre even including grindcore. He plays the sax mostly but he's multi-instrumentalist and although he is experimental and is all over the charts, he's incredibly talented and no matter what you listen to, you can find a collaboration album if not a solo album you'll like by him.

Tin Hat Trio - Helium

Whimsical, bluegrassy jazz from three extremely talented musicians, one of whom (Carla) currently plays violin for Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Oh, and Tom Waits makes an appearance. Kaada-ish.

Electric Masada - At The Mountains Of Madness

Last month was a very poor month for music around here, and I'm hoping I can help be apart of the solution instead of part of the problem (as in uploading MSI albums). So therefor I offer you this: Electric Masada. Perhaps they could be described as 'Jew Metal', seeing how most of the members are Jewish and masada translates to prayer in Hebrew. They're even lead by John Zorn. The music here is really sort of a jazz metal fusion, but even that is kind of dumbing it down too much. Some songs don't even seem to have a standard musical construction, such as the song that seems to be almost industrial in the fact that it is the rhythmic sounds of things breaking and other strange sounds. Some of the songs seem metal, with horn thrown in and other, less conventional sounds. Others seem to be a bizarre form of jazz that I really can't describe. None of the songs have lyrics, however. But trust me, that does not subtract from their appeal. Another thing to note is the length of the songs. The shortest song is 5:17, whereas the longest one is an even 18 minutes. The band also redoes some of the songs from the first disc in the second one, such as Kedem and Karaim. But this is definitely an album to check out.

Bonerama - Discography

I don't really have much to say about Bonerama, I just received this upload link from a friend and decided it was a convenient post. Bonerama is a New Orleans jazz band that has endured nine years and Hurricane Katrina. This is not like anything I have ever heard, creating incredible brass sound, it is amazing. Bonerama played the National Anthem at the Super Bowl recently and was on David Letterman promoting their new EP with OK GO(Which was pretty mediocre). This download includes their three albums not including their OK GO EP.
